Good Morning All,
Nancy had a very calm and stable night. I had a cozy and very restful, sleep-filled night nearby at Mandy and Scott’s house. Scott is Nancy’s first cousin. Many thanks for their hospitality!
The ICU team rounded a couple hours ago and now her EP doctor just rounded as well. Today will be another day of rest on the ventilator while they adjust her medications and give her heart additional time to stabilize and strengthen.
Dr Rajabali said she hopes to extubate Nancy around noon (Pacific) tomorrow if all goes well today. For those of you local, no visitors today, please, because they want her to remain nice and calm. She can hear us and responds by squeezing her eyes for “yes” and so forth, but these interactions tend to increase her respirations and drive some other vitals upward, too. So we’re supposed to leave her be until she’s awake tomorrow. And THEN the fun will begin! And visitors will be most welcome.
Meanwhile, I’m headed to Nancy’s Dad’s place for a few hours of chat and some reorganization of our “stuff.” Will return for a bit to look in on Nancy and then maybe try to sneak out for a strength and cardio workout (my latest exercise “thing” since January) at a nearby Planet Fitness.
Nancy’s day nurse Elliot is back with her today. Just wonderful. And her night nurse Spencer sounds like she may have Nancy as a patient tonight again as well. Always enthused about this sort of continuity of care for Nancy.
So it’s ALL GOOD here in sunny Portland in the always beautiful PNW. You look to the east and there is Mount Hood and you look to the north and there is Mount St Helens. Beautiful and majestic as only mountains can be. Will never cease to amaze a flatlander like me…
